How to connect the Producthero Platform to your Merchant Center account.

Updated today

The supplemental source is very important, as this is what links the Producthero Platform to your Merchant Center account. Any optimizations you make in the Producthero Platform will be automatically pushed to your Merchant Center through this connection.

Examples of optimizations you can apply in the Producthero Platform:

šŸ”¹ Product title optimizations using the Title Optimizer.

šŸ”¹ Performance-based segmentation labels (Heroes, Sidekicks, Zombies, or Villains) using the Labelizer.

šŸ”¹ Price benchmark labels (Below, At, Above, or No Benchmark) using the Price Benchmark Tool.

ā— NOTE: If you have multiple feeds in the Producthero Platform, you must set up a supplemental source for each one. Each feed label and language combination has a unique supplemental source URL, so make sure to retrieve data and configure a supplemental source for every feed separately.

How to set up the supplemental source

Watch our video tutorial or follow the step-by-step guide below.

Step 1: Copy the supplemental source url

In the Producthero Platform, navigate to the ā€˜Productsā€™ tab and click the ā€œCopy Supplemental Feedā€ button to retrieve the URL:

ā— IMPORTANT: Make sure to note the feed label and language combination of the supplemental source you copiedā€”youā€™ll need to enter the same values in Step 3.4.

Step 2: Enable "Advanced Data Source Management" in your Merchant Center account

2.1 Log in to your Merchant Center (merchants.google.com), click the gear icon in the top right corner, and navigate to 'Add-ons'.

2.2 Under the ā€˜Add-onsā€™ tab, select ā€˜Advanced Data Source Managementā€™.

2.3 Click ā€˜Addā€™, and once activated, you will see ā€˜Advanced Data Source Managementā€™ listed under ā€˜Your Add-onsā€™ (see image below).

Step 3: Add the Producthero Supplemental Source URL to your Data Sources

3.1 After selecting the add-on, click the gear icon in the top right corner, and navigate to 'Data sources'.

āš ļø IMPORTANT: Make sure that you add the supplemental source under 'Supplemental sources' only. Adding it to the 'Primary sources' can mess up your feeds! šŸšØ Double-check before proceeding.

3.2 Under ā€˜Supplemental Sourcesā€™ click on ā€˜Add supplemental product dataā€™.

3.3 Select ā€˜Add product data from a fileā€™ and paste the Supplemental Source URL copied earlier. Ensure that the file is updated daily, we strongly recommend setting the time between 10 and 12 AM Amsterdam time to keep the feed data fresh.

3.4 After adding the link, select the correct feed label, language, and primary source (remember what you selected in Step 1?)

ā—IMPORTANT: Don't forget to select the correct primary source to link your supplemental source to.

3.5 Once everything is set, click ā€˜Create Data Sourceā€™.

3.6 Your Supplemental Source is now integrated with your primary data source, and the Producthero Platform is successfully connected to your Merchant Center account šŸŽ‰.

Do you see the following warning in your supplemental source?
ā€‹

This means that the supplemental source does not contain any data yet. Once you start using Producthero tools, data will flow into the Supplemental Source, and the warning will disappear.
