How to connect the Producthero platform to your Merchant Center.

Updated over a month ago

The supplemental source is very important, as it is the link between Producthero and your Merchant Center. The optimizations you do in the Producthero Platform will be put in your Merchant Center through the Producthero supplemental source.

Examples of optimizations you can do in the Platform are:

  • Product title optimizations

  • The performance-based segmentation labels (Heroes, Sidekicks, Zombies, or Villains)

  • The Price benchmark labels (below, at, above, or no benchmark)

Note: If there are multiple feeds shown on our platform, please make sure that you retrieve data and implement a supplemental source for all your feeds, as the Producthero supplemental source URL is unique for each feed label/ language combination.

Set up the supplemental source

Watch our video explaining how to do this, or follow the steps below.

1. Copy the supplemental source from the Producthero platform.

IMPORTANT: Remember the feed label/language combination of the supplemental source you copied as you need to fill in the same values in step 8.

2. Log in to your Merchant Center (merchants.google.com). In the top right corner, click the gear icon and navigate to 'Add-ons'.

3. Under the Add-ons tab, select 'Advanced Data Source Management'.

4. Once you have clicked on ‘Add’, you will see that ‘Advanced data source management’ has been added to the ‘Your add-ons’ tab (see image below).

6. After you selected the add-on, head back to 'Data sources' in the Merchant Center. In this tab, you will see two options: 'Primary Sources' and 'Supplemental Sources'. For the Producthero Supplemental source, choose 'Supplemental Sources' and select 'Add Supplemental Product Data'.

IMPORTANT: Please double-check that you add the supplemental source under the 'Supplemental sources'. Adding it to the 'Primary sources' can mess up your feeds!

7. Choose 'Add Product Data from a File'. Here, you can paste the link of the supplemental source. Ensure that the file is updated daily, we strongly recommend setting the time between 10 and 12 AM Amsterdam time to keep the feed data fresh.

8. After adding the link, you need to select the feed label, language, and primary source.

IMPORTANT: Don't forget to select the correct primary source to link your supplemental source to.

9. Once you have chosen the correct feed label, language, and primary data source, click 'Create Data Source'.

10. After creating the data source, the supplemental source is now integrated with the primary data source. This means that the content from the supplemental source has been successfully added to the Merchant Center.

Do you see the following warning in your supplemental source?

This means that the supplemental source does not contain any data yet. Once you get started with our tools, data will come through in the supplemental source and this will warning will disappear.
