Editing your product titles

How to use the Title Optimizer

Updated over a week ago

Optimize titles per product

You can start optimizing your product titles by navigating to the "Products" tab and clicking on the row of the product you want to optimize.

Use the filter button to narrow down products based on title status (Poor, Average, Great), performance label, brand, and other attributes. This makes it easier to prioritize the products that need the most attention.

A side panel will slide in, showing additional product details and optimization options:

Element

Description

1. Your Title

This is how your product title is currently shown to consumers in your ads.

2. Item ID

A unique identifier assigned to the product via the 'ID' attribute in your Merchant Center data.

3. Previous / Next

Navigate easily between products using the previous/next buttons to quickly optimize multiple titles.

4.Title

The full product title, set through the 'title' attribute in your Merchant Center. It can be shown in ads.

4. Short Title

A brief version of the product title, used in specific placements (e.g., Discovery campaigns). You can use up to 150 characters, but it’s recommended to keep it under 65.

5. Placement

Shows how your product appears across the Shopping network.

6. Supplemental Source Toggle

Indicates whether the optimized title has been fetched from the Supplemental Source and is active in your ads.

7. Title Status

Reflects the length and quality of your title:
Great (green): 70–150 characters
Average (orange): 30–70 characters
Poor (red): Fewer than 30 characters

8. Keyword Suggestions

Suggestions to improve your title. These come from:
– AI (marked with an icon), based on your product description
– Product attributes in your feed (non-AI)

Once optimized, click save to add the title to your Supplemental Source. This only updates the ad title, it won’t affect the title on your landing page (your website).

Note: Your original title from the primary feed will not be completely lost.

If the "In Feed" toggle is enabled, the optimized title from the Supplemental Source will be used in your ads.
If you'd prefer to use your original title (from your primary feed) instead, you just need to disable the toggle.

Optimize product titles in bulk (PRO)

This feature is only available for PRO users.

Bulk title optimization allows you to quickly update multiple product titles at once. It is ideal for adding seasonal keywords, adapting to trends, including brand names, or fixing formatting inconsistencies. It’s a huge time-saver and helps ensure your titles remain relevant, consistent, and competitive in Shopping Ads.

To get started, simply select the product titles you want to update and click on “Bulk Optimize”:

Using a Find & Replace logic, you can easily make structured changes across all selected titles. For example:

  • Adding a well-known brand name can boost relevance and click-through rates.
Find: [title] / Replace: brand [title]

  • Removing an attribute (e.g colour):

Find: Colour / Replace: (empty space)

  • Highlight seasonality

Find: [bag] / Replace: Summer Bag

Use the “Preview Changes” option before applying updates to make sure everything looks right and click on "optimize" to save your changes.

Always keep industry best practices in mind when optimizing your products.
